DFW conducts research on the wildlife resources of the USVI to best understand how to conserve and protect them. This includes conducting bird surveys, monitoring freshwater ecosystems often referred to as guts, and trapping insects! Wildlife research conducted by DFW is funded by Federal partners/programs like…. “”
DFW also issues *permits* for scientific researchers outside of the government to conduct their research in the Territory. Through these cooperative agreements through these permits, DFW is also able to monitor wildlife resources that other scientists are studying to then apply to management of these resources. Explore our current research and monitoring efforts, as well as permitted research below!
